Weird and Wonderful
Surrealism Photography.
Here are some images that I have selected when researching Surrealism photography.
Tommy Ingberg
Tommy Ingberg is a passionate Swedish photographer working primarily in black and white and he creates surrealistic montages, which he often creates after photographing in his studio. His artistic creativity strives for simple, scaled back compositions with few elements, where every part adds to the story, but where there are still gaps for the viewer to fill, many of which produce a "surrealist" end result.
This my favorite picture from Tommy Ingberg's Surrealism photography because to me it is his most creative picture, as he has changed his legs into tree branches. He has used a dark grey and white background which creates a scary atmosphere. He dressed the person in the picture in black clothing to make him stand out.
1st shoot.
My first attempt.
2nd Shoot.
My 2nd attempt.
My best attempt.
I was inspired by Tommy Ingberg's photography to create my picture in the style of the photographer, I took a photograph of a model looking down then I took photographs of trees focusing on the branches. To edit my photographs I used Photoshop, first I cropped out the model by using the magnetic lasso tool this left me with just the figure of the model. I then edited the photograph of the tree by cropping and copying the image. My next step was to combine the images together, I edited the branches of the tree to make them appear as my models legs. I had to fade the branches out to match the top of his legs to make it look like the branches were attached. I added a background which I made darker and edited it to match the theme for my final image. I feel that my shoot was successful because I have matched the image that I wanted to create and it shows the influence of the photographer.
My own idea.
My best attempt.
To create this picture I have used 3 photographs. One of the photographs I have chosen is a photograph I took in Wales which I felt suited the theme that I wanted to create. First I cropped out the hand on Photoshop using the magnetic lasso tool and then I cropped out the person holding the umbrella using the same tool. I then layered the 3 photographs together placing the hand into the water then selected a section of the sea and have layered this over the hand coming out of the water to make it look like a sea creature. I blended the photographs together to give it the final effect which makes the image appear as one. I feel that my final image is successful and is appropriate for the theme surrealist photography.
Final Shoot.
Last Picture.
I have used the background photograph from the previous shoot but I have decided to use the hand as if it is a diving board. I have cropped the images of the model using the magnetic lasso tool. I think the final image creative and shows the inspiration from the photographer Tommy Ingberg.
