The 'Little People Project' started in 2006. It involves the remodeling and painting of miniature model train set characters, which I then place, photograph and leave on the street. It is both a street art installation project and a photography project. The street-based side of my work plays with the notion of surprise and I aim to encourage city-dwellers to be more aware of their surroundings. The scenes I set up, are more evident through the photography and the titles I give these scenes, aim to reflect the loneliness and melancholy of living in a big city, almost being lost and overwhelmed. But underneath this, there is always some humour. I want people to be able to empathise with the tiny people in my works.
My favourite Slinkachu
This is my favorite Slinkachu picture because I like sport. The exposure on this picture is perfect also I liked how his focus point is on the basket and the player. The colour of the figure stands out against the out of focus background. He has captured the figure flying through the air.

About Roys People
The Story Roys People is all about creating images and installations using miniature figures, taxidermy and every day items. It all began with 3 miniature figures and 1 taxidermy Mandibularis beetle (a big scary one). Roys idea was to create an installation of 'The Family' walking their pet beatle on the beach. His idea was based on the control the human race has over any other animal. From the success of this piece and the limited edition prints, He was encouraged to explore the world of the little people in more depth. |
How To Take The Perfect Slinkachu Picture.
To take the perfect slinkachu picture the depth of field has to be small. The aperture should be F 5.4 and the exposure should be normal. The focus should be on the figure, the shutter speed should be 0.25 and flash should be off.
First Shoot
This is my first Slinkachu shoot , I was trying to capture the figures against random objects. To me the first 6 pictures were as not as successful as the rest of the pictures because I was thinking more about what to use. Next I should make a plan and follow it to make the shoot show a story.

My Worst Picture.
This picture is my worst because it's out of focus and I moved the camera as I took the shot.
My Best Picture
This picture is my best picture from this shoot because its in focus but the only problem was the slinkachu figure was not in focus.
Second Shoot
My Worst picture.
This is my worst picture because it is out of focus and its not at the angle I wanted it to be at.
My Best picture
This is my best picture because it is in focus and its at a good angle. However it does not have a story, I will do a story for my next shoot.
Third Shoot
My Worst picture.
This is my worst picture because it is out of focus and its not at a good angle.
My best picture.
This is my best picture because its in focus and it tells a story. The story behind this picture is an insurance inspector looking at the bus which has been in an accident. You can see it is missing a tyre. The reason the tyre could have fallen off is because it could have driven onto rough terrain.
Fourth shoot.
My Worst Picture
This is my worst picture because the slinkachu is out of focus, as I struggled with the focus point.
My Best Picture
This is my best picture because it is in focus and you cant see the reflection of the computer monitor. I used this background because it is interesting and helped set the scene. I cropped this picture on Photoshop.
Fifth Shoot.
My worst picture
This is my worst picture because it is out of focus. The focus point should have been on the slinkachu figure and the sign but is only focused on the £10 note.
My Best Picture.
This is my best picture because it is in focus and it is at a good angle. It could have been better if the £10 note was more in focus in the picture.
This is another of my best pictures from my shoot because I used a birds eye view. This has captured the detail on the £10 note. I created a tent out of the £10 note whilst the homeless man begs he doesn’t see the money all around him. I have used a medium depth of field and have placed my focus point on the figure.
Final Shoot.
My Worst Picture.
This is my worst picture because is is to blurry and it is to exposed and it is out focus because is is focused on the background and not the slinkachu.
My Best Picture.
This is my best picture because it is in focused and it has perfect depth of field and exposure.
Final Shoot.
My Worst Picture.
This is my worst picture because the slinkachu figure is out of focus. The picture was under exposed and to dark and you can see the blue tac.
This My Best Photo.
This is my best picture because it has perfect exposure because its not to dark and not to bright. I really like the composition of this photo. I really like this image because it brings out vibrant colors.
